Our First Season at The Hydeaway

Looking back on our first summer of campers, challenges, kind words and plenty of lessons along the way.

Our First Season at The Hydeaway

As our first season at The Hydeaway came to an end on Wednesday 30th September, we wanted to take a moment to look back on what has been a fabulous, challenging and incredibly rewarding few months.

Starting The Hydeaway has been a huge learning curve for us and certainly hasn’t been without its challenges! But slowly and steadily, campers have arrived, and we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming some wonderful and interesting people of all ages to our little corner of the Isle of Wight.

We were lucky enough to have two particularly busy Bank Holiday weekends, but for the most part the season has been pleasantly slow and steady. This has given us time to get to know many of our campers and learn what people enjoy, what they need, and how we can make The Hydeaway even better.

We’ve been hugely grateful for all the support, encouragement and suggestions we’ve received from our campers throughout the season. The wonderful reviews you’ve left us have meant an enormous amount, especially as we’ve been finding our feet during our first year.

Now it’s time to clean, sort and pack everything away for the winter. Once we’ve finished, we’ll be inviting some sheep from a nearby farm to come and enjoy the grass for a while — a rather lovely way to put the field to bed for the winter!

We’ll also be using the quieter months to make a few changes and improvements to The Hydeaway, including changes to our bell tents and the way we offer them next season. We’re really looking forward to getting everything ready and welcoming you back in 2027.

To everyone who stayed with us during our first season: thank you. Thank you for choosing The Hydeaway, for your kindness and encouragement, for your suggestions and for all the lovely reviews.

It’s been quite a journey so far, and we’re excited to see where it takes us next.

We look forward to seeing you again in 2027! 🌿⛺
